Frequently Asked Questions
Understanding How Our Care Works — One Question at a Time
What is postnatal care with MotherWise like?
We offer structured, practical, in-home support for new families in the first days and weeks after birth. Think of it as having a knowledgeable, hands-on companion by your side — someone who supports your recovery, helps care for your baby, and guides you gently through this big transition.
Is this the same as hiring a doula?
Not exactly. While some of our team members are doulas, we work within a clear framework of care. We offer a consistent approach to all our clients which includes baby care, household tasks, feeding, demonstrating safe handlings, and we’re trained to spot when something isn’t quite right.
We provide a carer who actually does things for you and a network behind the scenes to identify and put you in contact with any specialists you may need to proactively fill in any gaps before problems arise.
Who is this for?
We work with all kinds of families — whether it’s your first baby or your tenth, whether you have support nearby or not. We are there to offer the same consistent approach to all our clients and we will listen and help you identify your needs.
How is this different from routine checks?
We complement — not replace. Our support is frequent, practical, and tailored to give you structure and rhythm. We’re there with you, not just popping in for a 10-minute check. We work as a coordinated team so you always have backup.
What if my main carer gets sick or can’t come?
You won’t be left alone. We work in a small, trusted team. If someone can’t come, we make sure another trained carer steps in. Continuity and reliability are part of what we offer.
Can I choose how many hours of care I receive?
We offer a standard package and we also offer flexible packages depending on your needs — from a few hours a day to full-time care.
I had a tough experience last time — can this help?
Absolutely. Many of our clients come to us after a difficult first experience. They say they wish they had this kind of support the first time. We’re here to make a difference.
Can you help with older siblings too?
Yes. We often help care for toddlers or school-age children while parents focus on the baby. Our goal is to support the whole family.
How much does it cost?
Our pricing depends on a few factors — including the availability of your carer, the distance they’ll need to travel, the time of year, etc. We’ll always provide a clear, tailored quote before you commit to anything. No hidden fees, no surprises — just care that fits your needs.
